About Us Miller's Shoobox Traditional Siamese and Balinese Cattery is a small family-owned cattery that is run with professional standards, with the health, personality, and beauty of the cats in mind. George is a veterinarian; thus, all of our cats get the best of health care. They are accustomed to regular baths, nail trims, ear cleanings, and the occasional dress-up as a doll in a baby carriage! Our cats are friendly, intelligent, and acclimated to all the commotion of a household with young children and hyperactive dogs!. My three children (ages six, nine, and ten) help hand raise and care for the kittens. All of our cats are a part of our family. They sleep, eat and play with us 24 hours a day. Our Siamese family members are people-oriented and are truly devoted companion cats. People are always commenting on how calm our cats are! They are plenty feisty and love to play, but when you hold them and cuddle, they purrrrrrrr and melt into your arms. Their purrrrrsonalities range from lap kitties (born to love) to talkative comedians (born to play). Our kittens' dazzling character keeps you laughing. I feel I have a special place in the world as a Traditional Siamese cat breeder. So many people grew up with these special kitties, and when they pass away after so many years of friendship and companionship, they leave a huge hole in the hearts' of the people that loved them. You can never replace your loved one, but another Siamese kitten goes a long way to distract you from your feelings of loss and lonliness! I feel that I'm making the world a little better by raising traditional Siamese kittens. I help fill the gaping holes left by our beloved feline companions! We'll all meet again someday at the "Rainbow Bridge" just this side of heaven. But in the meantime it doesn't hurt to make another beloved feline friend! Breeding Goals Traditional or Applehead Siamese are the big-bodied, round-headed and highly intelligent Siamese cats that many of us grew up with years ago. In fact, Walt Disney used an Applehead Siamese in That Darn Cat, starring Hayley Mills. In recent years, the standards for the Siamese breed in cat shows have radically changed so that today's showcats have a stylized, very elongated wedge-shaped head. Cat show judges, and the breeders they serve, would have us believe that there never were "Applehead" or round-headed Siamese! They try say our Traditional Appleheads are mixed breeds, and do not recognize them as true Siamese. But our CFA pedigrees go back as far as the day is long! This controversy is the reason you will see few Applehead Siamese at professional cat shows. Siamese Nature gives some of the history and personality of the Siamese. All of our cats are registered with the Cat Fancier's Association (CFA), in order to certify purity of the Siamese breed. They also maintain thespecial physical and social characteristics of the Old Fashioned Siamese cats. CFA Registered Traditional Siamese are not only beautiful, but extremely rare. CFA registration papers and pedigree are available for all our cats. Our goal is to keep this exquisite and highly intelligent breed alive, and to share them with other Traditional Siamese cat lovers. Specifically, I breed for intelligence, contrasting colors, round heads, big bodies, deep blue eyes, calm temperament, and a touch of mischief or spice in their personality. We have parents, great-grandparents, and a few older siblings on the premises. If you like the look of the parents, you'll LOVE the look of your grown kitten as well. Cat Tails will tell you about some of the homes where our cats have been adopted. Many people come to us having just lost their precious kitten or cat family member. They don't want to live without replacing that special love, joy, and friendship. That is the reason we breed Siamese at Shoobox. We feel we are giving away little packages of love and assisting in "filling holes" in people's hearts. Health Care We pride ourselves on our clean and sanitary environment. All cats are vaccinated, tested free from feline infectious diseases, and have in-house professional veterinary care whenever needed. Kittens come with at least their first shots and a contract guaranteeing health or your money back. Cats are kept indoors, or in large outdoor enclosures, to ensure their health and safety. Many of our Siamese live from 18 to 21 years of age or more. Price Kittens range in price from $600 for pet quality kittens, to $1,200+ for breeder quality with breeding rights. Balinese Traditional cats are much more rare, so their starting price is $750 for a pet kitten. Occasionally, we have a kitten that does not meet our standards for looks or confirmation and would cost considerably less. Additionally, there are times when we retire our breeders, or when a previously owned kitty suddenly needs a new home. Please let us know if you are interested in a grown cat for a pet.
